Section A – Core Technical Principles – Designed to last 30mins

  • Levers – (Mechanical Systems pg28-29)
  • Timber – (Paper, Board & Timber pg17)
  • Natural Fibres – (Textiles pg20) (More on the Production of Materials pg46)
  • Corrugated Cardboard – (Paper, Board & Timber pg16)

Section C – Designing & Making Principles – Designed to last 1 hour

You must study the following areas of research from your blue revision book and be able to answer longer written response questions on the following topics:

  • Product Analysis Question:

Be able to analyse a product and produce detailed written responses on the following areas:

  • Suitability for the user (use the product specification information given to you)
  • Aesthetics
  • Ergonomics – (Understanding User Needs pg96)
  • Anthropometrics – (Understanding User Needs pg96)
  • Representing Data – (Knowing how to complete a pie chart accurately)
  • Product Redesign – (Be able to state changes to a product for a different target audience and fully  

                                      justify the reasons. Changes must be functional NOT Aesthetics)

  • Design Specifications – (Design Briefs & Specifications pg98-99)
  • Model Making – (Exploring & Developing a Design Idea pg106-107)

  • Technical Drawing Question:

Be able to understand and complete a technical drawing for the following areas:
