Key Dates 2020 – for students who have been allocated a place to start in September 2020 at Brookfield Community School



DATES FOR STUDENT VISITS:


PRIMARY/JUNIOR SCHOOL VISITS – May 2020

During May, Miss McCulley, Miss Bennett and some Brookfield students will visit your sons or daughters school to answer questions from the children and talk to them about the Transition events.

Year 6s from non-feeder schools will be invited to come to Brookfield on 19 May @ 4pm for their own Q&A session. Parents are also invited, and Miss McCulley will be available to answer questions.


BRIDGING DAYS - 8.30am-2.40pm – June 2019

These are one day visits to give your son or daughter a taste of a Brookfield school day and will focus on English, Maths and Science. The lessons will also link with work being covered in the primary schools and so help to ‘bridge’ the learning transition.

* Locks Heath will visit on 2 different days due to their residential trips


YEAR 6 INDUCTION DAY - Friday 3 July 8.30am-2.05pm

Children will spend the day meeting their House Leader, their tutor and Personal Development group. They will be engaged in a range of activities designed specially to help them get to know each other, make new friends and to become familiar with the school and our daily routines.

DATES FOR PARENT EVENTS:

(unfortunately space does not enable us to accommodate both parents and children at these events)

  • Year 6 Parent Learning Evenings: Tuesday 9 June & Wednesday 10 June 5.30 – 7.30 – sign up here

Parents are invited to attend one of these evenings. We run a carousel of presentations covering our Curriculum, Home Learning, Our Tutor & House System. There will also be an introduction from Mr Parkes.

  • Year 6 Parent Information Evening:  Monday 8 July(a one-hour session between 5.30 and 8.00pm - times will vary depending on your child’s House – details will follow nearer the time)

All parents are asked to attend the information evening as this gives you the opportunity to meet your child’s House Leader, tutor and representatives from the Senior Leadership Team.
