Within Years 10 and 11, students’ performance and understanding will be developed and extended from Year 9. At the time of writing, we are rewriting our Year 10 Core PE curriculum, and more information will be available later this year.
We will offer 3 pathways that students can opt for in Year 10. Students will make this decision in the summer term of Year 9.
Route 1: Sports Leaders. For Year 10 students we are offer the Sports Leader Qualification for students to opt for. This is a recognised level 1 qualification. The aim of the course is to develop confident, healthy leaders through sport and physical activity. There is a charge for this course.
Route 2: Performance. The performance pathway focuses on competitive participation, tactics and strategies, and skill development to enhance performance.
Route 3: Enjoyment. The enjoyment pathway focuses on developing lifelong skills, healthy active lifestyles, and participation for enjoyment.
We are also currently looking into drop down weeks to develop students’ knowledge of first aid, and outdoor education.
As students move into Year 11, they will be able to opt for a PE Pathway to allow all students to enjoy PE lessons, have fun and stay active. Pathways we have previously offered include ‘The Big 4’, Relaxed Games, Fitness and Female Only.
Throughout the year students will be assessed against the criteria below:
- Effort
- Behaviour
- Skill
- Bringing kit
With the following grading:
- 1 excellent
- 2 good
- 3 satisfactory
- 4 poor
